INTRODUCTION

Access to electricity is one of the basic prerequisites for socio-economic development. Bhugol Energy Development Company Pvt. Ltd. has identified a potential site on the right bank of the Dwari Khola in Dailekh district. The preliminary study and investigation reveal that the proposed Dwari Khola Small Hydroelectric Project (DKSHEP) ids technically feasible, economically sound and environmentally sustainable. The Main attraction of the proposed project is short water way, easy access seasoned road, and availability of construction materials nearby the project site Hence, the Project proponent intends to implement the Dwari Khola Small Hydroelectric Project located in Dwari Village Development Committtee (VDC) of Dailekh district of Bheri zone in Mid –Western Development Region of Nepal.

The Ministry of Energy (MoE) has granted a survey license of Dwari Khola Small Hydroelectric Project (DKSHEP) with an installed capacity of 3.75 MW to Bhugol Energy Development Company Pvt. Ltd. on BS 2068/07/30 (AD2011/11/16) with the validity of License upto BS  2069/07/29 (AD 2012/11/14). The survey license is valid up to 25070/10/06 (AD 2070/01/20).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The proposed Dwari Khola Small Hydroelectric Project lies in Dwari VDC of Dailekh District of Bheri Zone. All the project structure is situated in Dwari VDC and in the left bank of the Dwari Khola. Naumule is the nearest market from the project site.

The proposed Dwari Khola Small Hydroelectric Project is conceived as a simple Run - of – River (ROR) scheme. The proposed project will have an installed capacity of 3.75 MW and will be able to generate 21.09 GWh of energy annually before outages and losses. The water from the Dwari Khola will be diverted at point about 3 km upstream from Dwari and Lohore Khola confluence. A gravity structure of low height dam, with the height of about 2.5m from the river bed, will be constructed as a diversion weir to ensure safe passage of design flow through orifice type side intake. The design discharge of the project is 1.063 m3/s and gross head is 450.3m.

The minimum flow of Dwari Khola is 0.31m3/s during April and maximum flow is 5.14 m3/s during the month of August
